Alright, now let’s jump into today’s Notion updates! 👇
What Are AI Meeting Notes?
If you've ever paid for a separate tool to record calls or summarize meetings, you can now let that go. Notion's new AI Meeting Notes feature does it all inside your existing workspace.
You just type /meet in any Notion page, hit record, and it captures everything: your voice, your teammates', even sound coming from your computer like a YouTube video or a webinar.
When you're done, Notion generates:
A full transcription
A clean, structured summary with title and highlights
A page block you can duplicate, add notes to, rearrange the way you like
It's fast, accurate, and feels surprisingly native to how we already use Notion.
What Makes This Different?
You might be wondering if this is just another AI tool like the rest. But let me explain why it stands out.
Most AI notetakers work only within a specific meeting platform like Zoom or Google Meet. They're great when you're in those tools, but limited outside of them.
Notion took a different approach. This feature captures all audio from your device whether it's a meeting, a webinar, a YouTube video, or even your own voice note. That means you're not locked into one workflow or app. You can use it wherever and however you like.
Even better, the entire process happens natively inside Notion. No switching tabs. No exporting. No wondering where your notes went. Everything stays right where you’re already working, and that’s a big deal for staying focused.
This flexibility turns it from just another AI feature into something that genuinely changes the way you capture and remember what matters.
How It Works
Here’s how I’ve been using it step by step:
Open any Notion page, type /meet and start recording
Click the “Confirm consent” button to start the recording
Notion starts listening to your microphone and your device's audio
When the recording ends, Notion AI kicks in and gives you: A word-for-word transcript A clear and complete summary A page block you can duplicate or add notes to
And later, you can even ask questions to Notion AI about what was said
No switching tools. No exporting. It all lives right inside your notes.
Use Cases Beyond Meetings
This is where things get really interesting. This feature is called Meeting Notes, but the possibilities stretch far beyond typical meetings.
I’ve already been using it in all kinds of scenarios, and it’s surprisingly versatile. Here are just a few ways you can make the most of it:
At work:
Record client calls and link them to your CRM
Capture team check-ins or async updates
Automatically summarize project discussions
As a creator:
Watch a YouTube video and generate key takeaways
Turn interviews or podcast recordings into content
Build outlines from webinars or livestreams
If you're learning:
Capture lectures, courses, or masterclasses
Create a knowledge base as you go
Ask Notion AI to quiz you on the material
Just for yourself:
Record your thoughts out loud
Start a voice-based journal
Organize spontaneous ideas into usable notes
The bottom line: if you can hear it, Notion can turn it into something useful.
Quick Tip: Use It in Databases
Here’s one thing I highly recommend if you want to go beyond just testing the feature.
The best way to use the new Meeting Notes feature is to integrate the page block into a Notion database template. Whether you're working with a Meetings database, a Notes database, or even a Projects database, adding this AI block directly into the template ensures it's always there when you need it.
Every time you create a new meeting note using that template, the block will be preloaded in the page, ready to record, transcribe, and summarize. No extra clicks, no setup. Just open a new entry and hit record.
This is exactly how I use it in my workspace, and it makes capturing conversations and ideas part of the natural flow of work.
What It Costs and How to Try It
Let’s talk about what you need to actually start using this feature today:
To use AI Meeting Notes, you’ll need to have access to Notion AI. Here’s what that means:
It requires the Notion Business plan or higher, which costs $20/month (billed annually) or $24/month (billed monthly).
Now, here's the good part:
You can try Notion AI for free with a limited number of AI responses shared across your workspace. It’s a great way to explore the tool and see if it fits into your workflow before paying anything.
Once those free responses run out, Notion will prompt you to subscribe to continue using the AI features.
That’s it for today!
Thanks for sticking with me until the end 🙏
Feel free to reply or comment if you want to share your opinion about this new feature.
See you next time,
